CCI orders inquiry in case lodged by Jio

In response to the complaint lodged by Reliance Jio against its top competitors, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) has ordered a probe and sought a report within next 60 days.

Earlier, a complaint was lodged against the leading telecom operators Airtel, Idea, Vodafone and the Cellular Operators Association of India ( COAI). It was alleged that these companies could have made an internal agreements via the COAI to deny the point of connectivity to the new comer Reliance Jio.

In an probe order, the CCI has called its investigating wing "Director General (DG)" to start an investigation immediately and come up with a report in next 2 months regarding this matter.

Previous year, Reliance Jio had made severe accusations against its top competitors that they are denying connectivity points to the new telco because of which, there was a huge call failures when Jio network was used to call other telco numbers. While the accused telcos had denied this accusations, but Jio kept on insisting on its claims and started publicly announcing the monthly figures about how much call failures have happened in its official website.
