How to activate JioTunes

Jiotunes

Dear Readers,

Many Jio users have ignored or underestimated several free benefits associated with the Jio applications. One such freebie is free caller tune services known as 'Jio Tunes'.
We say ignored because since the launch of Jio services, these freebies are available for completely free of cost. However, due to lack of awareness or wrong information, often several Jio users have ignored this part.

We recommend all Jio users to go for it, because:

1) Well, first and foremost information is these services are completely free and Jio has already confirmed that they are not going to charge for these anytime soon.

2) Even if they start charging, every user will get advance notice and clear description of how to deactivate the account if they do not wish to continue with paid services.

3) Anybody who is well aware of Jio's strategies will acknowledge that  if ever Jio starts charging for these services, they will be for phenomenally low rates in comparison with the counterparts.

Introduction to JioTunes

JioTunes is a caller tune service from Reliance Jio, using which you can set your favorite song or music as your caller tune. Many people wish that their callers get a glimpse of music taste of the user whom they are calling.
With this service, all callers calling your number will be able to listen to your favorite song or music till the time your number is ringing. You can select your JioTune from a large collection of songs from various genres. Every day, this collection is updated with thousands of trending music and songs.

Procedure for JioTunes Activation:

JioTunes can be activated in three different methods based on the convenience of the users.

1) Using SMS method:
  • Send an SMS with the first 3 words of the song/film/album of your choice to 56789 (toll-free).
  • You will receive an SMS carrying the list of songs carrying those three words along with instructions on how to set the song of your choice as your JioTune.
  • You need to reply to this SMS with the option number of your choice to 56789. Alternatively, you can SMS “JT” to 56789 and follow the instructions.

2) Through 'JioMusic' application:

Jiomusic
JioMusic App

  • First you will have to install the free Jio application called 'JioMusic' from app store. After successful installation, you will have access to all the songs categories into various genres like Bollywood, Classic, Pop, Devotional etc.
  • Now, search and select the song or music of your choice.
  • On the song categories page, at the right hand bottom, click on the three dot dropdown menu and select ‘Set As JioTune’.
  • Alternatively, you can open your selected song in the player mode and click the ‘Set As JioTune’ button beneath the player.
Note:
If you are unable to find the ‘Set As JioTunes’ button in your JioMusic app, then your app needs to be upgraded to the latest version by visiting AppStore/Google Play. All songs available as JioTunes will have ‘Set As JioTune’ button enabled.

3) By copying the JioTune of another Jio customer:
·         To set the same JioTune as another Jio customer, press ‘*’ before the call stops ringing.
·         You will receive a SMS from 56767 to confirm your consent.
·         You need to reply to this consent SMS with "’Y ‘and the selected JioTune will be activated on your Jio number.

How to solve low speed issues in Jiofi?

Dear Readers,

Undoubtedly, Jiofi is the best way to enjoy WiFi services from Reliance Jio. We have already explained why using a Jiofi device is much better than using mobile hotspot technology to avail WiFi network from Jio 4G in our previous post "Why you should buy a Jiofi Device".

Today, we would like to share some troubleshooting tips to be followed in case your Jiofi device speed slows down.

In any network, the speed of a WiFi device is affected by lot of known factors like the number of devices connected, the signal strength in your area, the location of device, distance between WiFi device and usage point, signal obstructions, indoor or outdoor use, is the device kept in pocket or inside a drawer etc. Reliance Jiofi is no different to these possibilities.

However, we suggest you to check the below points before raising an official service request.

1) Check if your daily usage limit of Jiofi SIM crossed the limit?

Under the Fair Usage Policy (FUP) condition of Jio offers, upon exceeding the daily usage limit on the data, the speed will be automatically reduced to 128 kilo bytes per second (kbps) until next day quota is activated. So, we suggest first you check if your FUP limit is not exceeded.

To know the procedure of checking your Jiofi SIM, please read our earlier posts listed below:

2) Check the color signal indicators on Jiofi device.

The color LED indicators on your Jiofi device give you an preliminary hint about the problem. Below information will help you to identify potential problem.
  • Green or full network signal bars indicates good coverage
  • Blue or 2-4 network signal bars indicates you are in a medium coverage area
  • Red or less than 2 network signal bars indicates low coverage area, due to that you are getting slow internet speed.

3) Check if the reduced speed is only with a particular website or application.

Occasionally, a particular website or application can cause speed reduction due to technical glitches at the hosting firm. So, please check with 2-3 different websites or applications and see if problem is with any one particular website or mobile application.

4) Check if speed reduction is only with a particular device.

In case you have started experiencing speed issues after changing your consumption device, try using the JioFi with your old device to check if there is a problem specifically with your new device. If the issue is only with the new device, contact customer service of your handset/laptop maker.

5) Other tips to maximize speed.
  • Jiofi should be placed in an open area without any obstruction (walls, microwave, electromagnetic devices etc.) coming between the Jiofi and connected device
  • Keep your Jiofi within 10 meter radius of your connected device
  • Jiofi should be connected with maximum of 10 devices at a time for better speed.
Hope these tips will be helpful in identifying source of problem. If you still continue to have issues, please login to your Jio account and raise a technical service request.

Why should you buy a Jiofi Device?

Since the launch of Jiofi, there has been a debate going on about the worth of buying a Jiofi against using mobile hotspots for internet connection.

After considering all factors, Jioduniya team votes for having a Jiofi device. The points listed below are our personal experiences while using Jio internet.

1. Jiofi offers a constant network signal

By far, this is the greatest advantage of having a Jiofi device as against using a mobile hotspots in your phones. Reason is the output internet service provided by a mobile hotspot is vulnerable for fluctuations in the network signal as well as RAM usage in your mobiles. There were days when we had to struggle a constant signal and we were frustrated with mobile hotspots. Hence a dedicated Jiofi device to provide internet service to all your devices is worth the money you spend on it.

2. Helps in saving your mobile battery

Everyone knows using a mobile hotspots drains your mobile battery at accelerated speeds. So why not use Jiofi device which can provide a better signal for up to 6-10 continuous hours.

3. Jiofi connects more devices than mobile hotspot

Even if you ignore the fluctuating signals emanating from a mobile hotspots, you can connect only maximum 8 devices at a time, where as with Jiofi you can connect upto 30 devices. But for better signal, we recommend upto 15 devices at a time.

4. Jiofi can help you make calls using Jio4Gvoice

True, with an application released from jio called 'Jio4GVoice', you can integrate any smartphone ( whether 2G, 3G or non-Volte 4G) with a Jiofi device and enjoy all benefits of Jio SIM similar to a 4G-Volte phone.

5.Jiofi displays the network and battery status with color indicators

6. Jiofi device can be used to restrict the users and manage other features through the URL http://jiofi.local.html/.

7. Jiofi signal strength is always better than mobile hotspot range. Full house can be covered with the signal strength of a Jiofi device.

8. Last but not least, Reliance Jio is offering a free SIM card with every Jiofi device bought.

Why Jio4GVoice is a Must for Jiofi Users?

Jio4GVoice For Jiofi
Jio4GVoice is very useful for Jiofi Users

Jio4GVoice is an excellent application released from Reliance Jio. In the beginning, this service was started as "JioJoin", but later changed to Jio4GVoice.

This application is specially designed for Jiofi users who do not have a 4G supporting phone or have a 4G phone but does not support VoLTE feature. With this app, you too can enjoy all the freebies like calls, messaging, chats, video calls etc even with an ordinary 2G or 3G smartphone (Only requirement is that it must support a WiFi connection).

In this article, we would like to list out few points about Jio4GVoice which makes a "Must -Have Application" for all Jiofi Users.

Below is the list of benefits of Jio4GVoice:

1) The best thing about this application is that this can be used in non-4G phones too. This means that you can enjoy calling, messaging and other HD services even from a Non-4G phone.

2) Jio4GVoice is easy to install and can be easily integrated with your Jiofi SIM.

3) Once you connect your Jiofi SIM to this application, you will be able to make free audio calls, free video calls, free HD audio and video calls along with free SMS just like a 4G phone with Jio SIM in it.

4) You can use Rich Communication Services (RCS) features like Rich Call, Chat, Group Chat, File Share, Location Share, Doodles, Stickers and many related features.

5) One more use which we liked is the ability to recieve OTP's to the SIM which is inside the Jiofi. This is very important requirement when connecting your Jio number to an existing account.

6) Easy way to know the mobile number of your Jiofi SIM.

7) You can easily enable or disable this app in the setting options when not to be used.

Note: For Jio4GVoice to work, it should always be connected to respective Jiofi WiFi network.

How to reset Jiofi device to Factory Settings?

Dear Readers,

Just like other WiFi devices available in the market, Jiofi devices too are provided with an option to reset the device to factory default settings.

This article is about how to reset the device to factory settings. If you want to know, when you must reset the device to its factory settings, read our previous post "When you should factory reset Jiofi device?".

The procedure is simple, but must be carried out with care so as not to damage the sensitive small pin provided for factory reset.

Step1: Remove the back cover of Jiofi device, but do not remove the battery.

Step2: Switch on the device, if it is in switched off mode.

Step3: Locate the reset button. This is a very small opening located at different positions in different models of Jiofi devices.

In Jiofi2, this reset button is in the shape of a small rectangle with a word "RESET"  printed. Located at the right edge towards the middle ( when you are looking at device cover opened).

Factory Reset in Jiofi2

In Jiofi3, the reset button is in the shape of a small round dot or full stop. No word indication. It is located just above to top of battery towards right side.

Factory Reset in Jiofi3

Step4: Insert a small pin which can fit into the reset button hole and hold pressed gently for about 10-15 secs, if reset happened properly you will see that your jiofi device will restart with factory settings in place.

Caution: Do not use a very sharp edged pin as it can pierce through the reset button sheet. Use a pin with taper end. The best pin for this purpose is the one provided with your device when you bought new.

Once reset is done, it is as though you are starting afresh with a new device.

When you should factory reset Jiofi device?

Jiofi Factory Reset
When should you use Jiofi factory reset?

Dear Readers,

Jiofi device has been provided with an option to reset all the settings and configurations to the factory settings mode. Well, this is not unique to Jiofi, most of the WiFi devices and WiFi enabled devices are usually given with this option.

However, it is important to know when one should use the factory reset option.

Below are the scenarios when it is recommended to go for factory reset option:

1) When you forget the login password due to some reasons. One can find himself or herself in this situation when the login option was not used for a long time and one forgets. Those with weak memory, often keep the details written in a book or paper, however when they fail to find the same.

2) When your Jiofi device gives a red signal error ( the network signal oscillates from on and off in a red color), you should use the factory reset option.

3) When you suspect that somebody is using your WiFi data without permission. If you have not used a unique password, anybody with your device box can use your network. It mostly happens in hostels or people living in groups.

4) When the device behaves abnormally and gives out a very low signal. After all the trouble shooting methods have failed, it is better to reset once and check if the troubles have surfaced.

Please leave a comment if you have any queries that i can help.
