| Home Broadband & Jio Link added to Quick Recharge Section of Reliance Jio Website |
The official website of Reliance Jio has updated its website by adding two new features in its Quick Recharge Section.
The first feature is "Home Broadband":
We all know that Reliance Jio is working on "Fiber To Home" broadband connection in few selected cities of India. Mukesh also had confirmed the news earlier. However, it was speculated that it would take lot of time to spread out into major cities of India.
But, addition of Home Broadband option in its recharge section signals that these features are going to be launched sooner than expected, probably in next few weeks. But, at the current pace, these features are expected to be available only in few selected cities like Pune and Mumbai. Keep tuned to our blog for any new updates regarding this.
Updates to this section as of 10th May 2017:
We have received updates from several sources that the trial run for Reliance Jio's 'Fiber to Home' service has already started in selected cities like Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Ahmedabad, Jamnagar, Surat and Vadodara. The trail run has been introduced in the form of a introductory offer called "JioFiber Preview Offer" to few limited users in these cities. Some users who are using this introductory offer have revealed that they are able to achieve a speed of 70 to 100 mbps successfully on the 100 Mbps connection. A user from Pune has informed that a speed of 743.28 Mbps was achieved in relation to the tested 1Gbps connection.
It is said that eventually the plans will be rolled out all other major cities as well. There is no official information available on the launch date or nature of plans for the fiber broadband service, though a link is officially included into the quick recharge section of official jio website www.jio.com.
The second feature is "Jio Link":
Rumours have been floating around for some time now about the launch of DTH services by Reliance Jio. Recently, an image of Set Top Box by Jio went viral in social media. But, no official clues were revealed by Jio.
A box similar to that of a DTH set top box has been added to the quick recharge section of Reliance Jio's official website. The name indexed is "Jio Link". Most certainly this indicates that the launch may be very near. In view of Reliance Jio's aggressive marketing strategy, it is fair to expect some freebies or at least cheaper package plans under both the new segments.
The talk in the market is that DTH service would be combined with its broadband services as the Jio Link box is said to be having an Ethernet port.
