As of 31st October 2017, Reliance Jio has acquired about 43% of total share market for wireless broadband connections. As per the recent statistics from Telecom Regulatory Authority of India ( TRAI), Jio has able to attract 146 million customers to its basket. This makes Jio the market leader in this sector.
The next contestant in line is Airtel which has a market share of about 19.7% with a total of 64.8 million customers. However, it is worth to note that airtel also stands second in line to BSNL in terms of wired broadband connections with about 2.13 million customers. Jio has not yet started its wired network, but trials are underway for the same in few selected cities in the name of "Jio Fibre".
The other major contestants in wireless broadband are vodafone, Idea, Reliance Communications with a subscriber base of 48.41 million, 31 million, 8.98 million respectively.
In case of wired broadband sector, BSNL tops the table with 9.48 million subscribers followed by Airtel, Atria Convergence Technologies, MTNL and Hathway with a subscriber bases of 2.13 million, 1.26million, 0.94million, 0.68million respectively.
