SSID stands for S-Service S-Set ID-Identifier. This is a unique dataset broadcasted by a device to identify its wifi, hence it is generally known as Network Name or Wifi Name. When you purchase a new Jiofi, the SSID name will be a combination of alphanumerical which is listed on the outer package box of new jiofi device and in case if you have lost the box, open the battery and you will find these details on the jiofi device.
Procedure to Change Jiofi SSID
Usually, its very difficult to remember the SSID name thus making it difficult to connect from a list of SSID's shown in public areas. Hence, you might wanna change this to a easily remembered words like name of your close family member or name of your company etc.
Follow the below listed step by step procedure for successfully changing the default jiofi network name to a name of your choice.
Step-1: Start your Jiofi device and connect to a PC or a mobile by using the wifi SSID and password. (Note: These can be seen from the outer package box of new jiofi device and in case if you have lost the box, open the battery and you will find these details on the jiofi device).
Step-2: After connecting your PC or mobile with the wifi network of your Jiofi device, now open a web browser ( we recommend Chrome for better user experience) and enter one of the following URLs http://jiofi.local.html or http://192.168.225.1.
Step-3: A page will open with lot of numbers and data. Don't worry, just click on the login button located on the right top corner of the page.
Step-4: A login window will open. Enter the username and password and click login button. (Note: If you are loggin in for the first time, use "administrator" as both the username and password. Check out our previous blog about changing the login username and password by clicking here.)
Step-5: After logging in, click on the Network tab as shown in below picture.
Step-6: Now, click on the " Wi-Fi Configuration" tab on the left side bar.
Step-7: Now you will see a list of details. The second row will show you the existing default SSID name. You can edit this information and enter a new name of your choice. Click on the Save button on the bottom.
Step-8: Once you click save button, a message will appear indicating that the jiofi connection will be interrupted and jiofi will reboot to set these changes. Go ahead and click OK. That's it. Now the new network broadcast name should be visible.
