One of the obvious reasons for the slow speeds in a Jiofi is multiple user access at a time. Though Jiofi supports many users at a given time, but the speed will proportionately reduces with increase in the number of users. However, if you suspect that unwanted users have got access to your Jiofi network, check the active users at any given time by following below procedure:
If you conclude that many unwanted users are using your Jiofi network, the best thing is to change the network password. To know the step by step procedure to change network password, please go through our previous post:
"How to change Jiofi Network Password?".
Sometimes, you will notice that inspite of repeated password changes, the password gets shared between your friends soon. This problem is more prominent if you live in a hostel or any facility where lot of people are present. In such situation, you can permanently block or restrict unwanted users with their MAC wifi addresses.
In this post, we would like to show you the step by step procedure to restrict unwanted users from accessing your Jiofi Network:
Step-1: Start your Jiofi device and connect to a PC or a mobile by using the wifi SSID and password. (Note: These can be seen from the outer package box of new jiofi device and in case if you have lost the box, open the battery and you will find these details on the jiofi device).
Step-2: After connecting your PC or mobile with the wifi network of your Jiofi device, now open a web browser ( we recommend Chrome for better user experience) and enter one of the following URLs http://jiofi.local.html or http://192.168.225.1.
Step-3: A page will open with lot of numbers and data. Don't worry, just click on the login button located on the right top corner of the page.
Step-4: A login window will open. Enter the username and password and click login button. (Note: If you are login in for the first time, use "administrator" as both the username and password. Check out our previous post about changing the login username and password by clicking here.)
Step-5: After logging in, click on the Network tab as shown in below picture.
Step-6: Now, click on the "MAC Address Filter" tab on the left side bar.
Step-7: A new screen will appear as shown below. Select "Enabled" option in MAC Address Filter setting. Then in the Mode Settings, Select 'Deny' option and click on the 'Add Rule' button.
Step-8: When you click 'Add Rule' button, you will get a new pop up box of MAC Filtering Rule. All you have to do is to enter the MA Address of the unwanted user whom you want to deny the access. The MAC address of the active user will be available in the Client List option as described in our post " "How To Check Active Users of a Jiofi Network?".
Obviously, you will have to note down the MAC Address when the user was online, if he is not using your Wifi at this time. You can enter description details to identify MAC Address, but this is optional. After entering the MAC Address of unwanted user, click on the OK button.
Step-8: Now you will see that the MAC Address you added is listed with a 'X' mark in red circle. Red Round circle with x mark indicates the MAC addresses which have been blocked or restricted from accessing your wifi network. Finally click on save button to confirm your changes. That's it. The blocked user ( or device) will not get access to your Jiofi connection even if it has your password.

If some one spoof MAC no then can he again access my jio fi?
ReplyDeleteHi Somu, Thanks for Your Query. Unauthorized access to Jiofi by MAC spoofing will be possible only if the hacker has following information. First is the SSID Password and second thing is the MAC address of the device already authenticated. Usually, it is hard for a stranger to get both of this. If you still suspect this, we suggest you to change the SSID password with a complicated alphanumerical codes or if someone has accesss to network login details, factory reset the Jiofi device. Hope this helps.
