Reliance Jio becomes 4th Largest Indian Telco with 9.29% Market Share

Indicating its sustained growth, Reliance Jio has acquired a market share of 9.29% thus officially becoming the India's 4th largest mobile service provider.

In the month of March 2017, Reliance Jio has acquired a total of 5.8 million subscribers to gain the 4th Spot. In the same period, Airtel, Idea and BSNL have got subscriber base of 2.99 million, 2.09 million and 2.07 million respectively.

The other major tel-cos like Airtel, Vodafone and Idea have maintained a market share of 23.39%, 17.87% and 16.70% respectively to achieve the first, second and third place.

In spite of being the leader in acquiring customer base, the UBS Securities Asia has signaled at the decline in the rate of subscriber additions. The reason is the TRAI report statistics which reveal that the number of subscribers have drastically come down to 5.8 millions for March 2017, compared with that of 12.2 million in Feb-2017 and 18.48 million in Jan-2017.

So, doubts are raising if Jio's growth is slowing down? If yes, Jio will have to do some more magic with new offers to keep the momentum going.

Vodafone in Delhi High Court against Reliance Jio's tariff plans

Vodafone against Jio Tariffs in Delhi High Court
Vodafone in Delhi High Court against Reliance Jio's tariff plans

The juggle and struggle between different Telco's to prove the other wrong is continuing in various forms. After Airtel, now Vodafone has taken charge to blame Jio and prove it wrong in all the ways possible.
Vodafone India on Tuesday tapped the doors of Delhi High Court against the new entrant Reliance Jio claiming that the two tariff plans offered by Reliance Jio since last month were in violation of the TRAI's guidelines. The two plans in question are the Summer Surprise' offer, ( which gave three month additional complimentary service on a minimum monthly recharge of Rs. 402) and 'Dhan Dhana Dhan' offer, which came after the first one was withdrawn( that gave two additional months on a recharge of Rs. 408).
Vodafone has made the allegation in an application moved by it before Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva seeking to amend its petition filed early this year against Reliance Jio's free trial offer of its 4G services. Vodafone in its petition has claimed that by providing the free voice calls and continuing to do so as a promotional offer beyond a period of 90 days, Reliance Jio was violating norms and the TRAI's tariff orders and regulations.

It has said it was also concerned by the stand of the the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) allowing the alleged violation to continue. Meanwhile, Reliance Jio has denied the allegations. The court on Tuesday allowed Vodafone to amend its petition and listed the matter for hearing on July 27.

Mukesh Ambani tops the Forbe's List

In our earlier posts (listed below for quick read), we talked about how the Jio has started leaving positive impacts in the life of millions of Indian citizens.
Now, we have found a news supporting our views described in our earlier posts. The owner of Reliance Jio, Mr. Mukesh Ambani has been recognized as the topper of esteemed Forbes company list of "Global Game Changers 2017".

Part of Forbes article with Mukesh Ambani in top of list

This is a true honor not only to Mukesh, but to entire India. Because, he is the only indian in the list, that too at number one position. The global game changers list is prepared after considering the changes brought about by any new initiative, campaigns, inventions etc. Jio's intention to revolutionize the 4G networks seem to have got an international recognition.

Although, Jio has started charging its consumers, the charges imposed are undoubtedly the lowest in the industry. Well thought strategies with brilliant offers are keeping the earlier customers to cling on and slowly attracting the new customers. Rumors are floating in the air about some new attractive offers to be released soon.

Before we begin, just to give readers a glimpse of new handsets from Samsung, we have provided below links to few best reviews of these phones.
In our previous post " Jio - LG G6 Celebratory offer", we explained a similarly planned offer which was launched by Jio in association with LG company for its new handset LG G6.

Jio - Samsung double data offer

What is Jio-Samsung Double Data offer?

This offer is effective from 1st May 2017 and valid up to 31st December 2017. In this offer, any jio user (existing or new) with a Samsung Galaxy S8 or S8+ phone can get a free additional double data for every recharge done with Rs 309 plan or above.

For example, between the offer period ( 01-05-2017 to 31-12-2017), if you recharge a Rs 309 offer with your Jio SIM in the Samsung Galaxy S8 or S8+ device, you will get double the data volume of original offer. For 309 recharge, you will get 28 GB + 28 GB extra.

However, this offer too comes with following limitations:
  1. Offer applicable only for handsets purchased in India.
  2. Offer of one handset is fixed to one Jio SIM. You can't avail the benefit if SIM is used with other S8 or S8+ handsets. Because, the IMEI number of each device will be synchronized with the Jio SIM number.
  3. The double data offer benefits can be availed only for 8 continuous recharges within the offer period.
  4. The additional extra benefit will be added to the offer account within 48 hours of original recharge.
  5. The extra data benefit will expire along with the expiry of original recharge plan. Hence we recommend to redeem the extra benefit as soon as you get.

Jio - LG G6 Celebratory Offer

Jio has launched a celebratory offer in association with LG company in relation to the release of its new brand phone LG-G6. In this post, we would like to share all the relevant details about this new offer so that users get maximum out of this offer.

Before we begin, we would like to share some of the best reviews about this new phone and few links in case you wish to buy this phone.

What is JIO-LG G6 Celebratory Offer?

This is a celebratory offer launched by Jio and LG companies in which every customer who buys LG-G6 handset and uses with a Jio SIM in the purchased handset will be entitled for certain additional benefits. Note that this offer is valid only for those customers who buy the new LG-G6 handset between 26-04-2017 and 31-03-2018 only ( unless duo decides to extend the offer period).

The additional benefits include upto 100GB of additional 4G data along with regular data benefits as per the recharged plan. With every recharge of 309 rupees or above ( recharged within the offer period) will get a free data booster voucher which will give an additonal 10 GB of 4G Jio data.

Please note the following limitations in the offer:
  • The special recharges (of 309 Rs or above) can be availed only a maximum of 10 times.
  • The free data booster voucher can't be used in any other device, it has to be used in the LG-G6 handset only.
  • If the handset is purchases outside India, the offer is not valid.

More details about this celebratory offer:

You need not purchase a new Jio SIM to avail this offer, this is applicable for both existing and new customers. It means, if you buy the new LG-G6 handset and use your existing Jio SIM, you are still eligible to enjoy this celebratory offer.

Also, you can't enjoy this offer twice with 2 Jio SIMs in two slots. Offer will be activated only in the first SIM used in Slot-1 of the handset. In simple terms, one offer for every one LG-G6 handset.

The special data booster voucher of 10 GB will be credited to your account within 48 hours of original recharge.

But we recommend that you redeem this voucher as soon as you get. Because, the validity of this booster voucher is same as that of original recharge validity. For example, lets say that you recharged 309 rs plan under this offer on 1st of August 2017 and say you got the booster voucher on 3rd of August, and you redeemed the voucher on same day. The validity of the voucher will end with original plan validity i.e 28th of August. In case say you redeemed the voucher on 15th August, still the validity of booster voucher will expire on 28th August.

Jio - India's Fastest 4G Network Now

Dear Readers,

Closing the curtains on the fastest network tussle between various Telcos, TRAI ( Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) has released the official figures about who is the topper when it comes to fastest speed in 4G. Recently, there was a great tussle between Jio and Airtel who claimed their network is the fastest in India.

Jio Fastest Network
Reliance Jio Now India's Fastest Network
According to report from TRAI, Reliance Jio has averaged a download speed of 18.48 mega bytes per second (Mbps) which is almost double of what other competitors like Airtel, Vodafone etc are providing. Previous month, Jio had a speed of 16.48 Mbps.

Few months back, Mukesh Ambani had released a press statement in which he told that Reliance Jio is working from all angles to establish itself as the best network in India. Establishing new towers, reducing the data wastage, appending the signals etc were the plans in their list. It seems that these plans are working out now.

In second position is the Airtel with an average download speed of 6.57 Mbps, but this is 1 Mbps less than the previous month figures. With 6.14 Mbps, Vodafone is in third position by pipping Idea to 4th which has a figure of 5.9 Mbps during the same reporting period. Aircel was in 5th Position with a figure of 2.01 Mbps followed by state-run BSNL with a speed of 1.99 Mbps.

One of the main reasons for increase in Reliance Jio's performance in speed is attributed to decline in the several million users who did not recharge after ending free period. If Jio works further to improve all factors in relation to enhancing signal availability, there is no doubt that Jio will remain as the topper in this section for next few months.
